NIELIT Introduction

Examination and certification in information, electronics and communications technology

National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT), erstwhile DOEACC Society, is an autonomous scientific society under the administrative control of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MoE and IT), Government of India. It was set up to carry out human resource development and related activities in the area of Information, Electronics and Communications Technology (IECT).

NIELIT is engaged both in formal and non formal education in the area of IECT, besides the development of industry oriented quality education and training programmes in state of the art areas. It has endeavoured to establish standards to be the country’s premier institution for examination and certification in the field of IECT. It is also one of the national examination bodies, which accredits institutes and organisations for conducting courses in information technology in the non formal sector.

Over the last two decades NIELIT has acquired expertise in information technology training, through a wide repertoire of courses ranging from O Level (Foundation), A Level (Advance Diploma), B Level (MCA equivalent) and C Level (M.Tech level), to information technology literacy courses such as CCC (Course on Computer Concepts) and BCC (Basic Computer Course). Other long term and short term courses in the non formal sector cover information security, ITeS and BPO for customer care and banking, computer hardware maintenance at O and A level, bio informatics at O, A and B level, and ESDM. NIELIT centres also offer post graduate courses at M.Tech level in electronics design and technology and embedded systems, in association with the respective state universities, which are not normally offered by universities and institutions in the formal sector.
