What a cookie is
A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store, so that the server can recognise the same browser on a later request. Cookies can be used for many purposes, from keeping a person signed in to following them across unrelated websites for advertising. This page explains exactly which of those purposes apply to difgroup.in.
The one cookie this site sets
When you open a page on this website, the server starts a session and asks your browser to store a session cookie, normally named PHPSESSID. It holds a random identifier and nothing else. Your name, your email address and the contents of any form you fill in are never written into the cookie.
The identifier lets the server match your browser to a security token that is issued when a form is displayed. When you submit the enquiry form, the career application form or the NIELIT registration form, the token sent with the form is compared with the token held against your session. If the two do not match, the submission is rejected. This is what prevents another website from silently submitting a form to us in your name. Without this cookie the forms on the site cannot be submitted.
The session cookie is a first party cookie set by difgroup.in alone. It is temporary, it is not written to disk beyond the life of the session, and it is discarded when you close your browser or when the session expires after a period of inactivity.
Cookies this site does not set
This website carries no advertising cookies, no remarketing tags, no social media pixels and no third party analytics cookies. There is no Google Analytics property, no Facebook pixel and no advertising network code in the pages of this site. Nothing on difgroup.in builds a profile of you, follows you to other websites, or is shared with an advertising business. Because the only cookie in use is strictly necessary for the site to work, no consent banner is shown.
Content embedded from other services
Two parts of the site load material from outside difgroup.in, and you should know about them because your browser contacts those services directly. The contact page embeds a Google Maps frame so that visitors can locate the office at Ranipur, and the video gallery links to the YouTube channel of the Foundation. Opening or playing that embedded content means Google receives the request from your browser and may set cookies of its own under its terms, exactly as it would if you visited those services directly. The pages of this site also load a web font from the Google Fonts service. The Foundation has no access to, and no control over, any data those services collect.
Managing cookies in your browser
Every current browser lets you view stored cookies, delete them, and block them for a chosen website through its privacy or site settings. You may remove the session cookie set by this site at any time. If you block cookies for difgroup.in you can continue to read every page, but the enquiry, career and registration forms will refuse submissions, because the security check described above depends on the session.
Legal position
The session identifier is personal data only in the limited sense that it identifies a browsing session, and it is processed because it is necessary to provide the service you have asked for, in line with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. What happens to information you actually submit through the forms is set out in our Privacy Policy.
Changes to this policy
If measurement or any other category of cookie is introduced on this website in future, this page will be updated before that change goes live, and consent will be sought where the law requires it.
